Industrial Insights

“A recent study conducted by the strategic consulting and market research firm, BlueWeave Consulting, revealed that the Global 3D Printing Medical Devices Market was worth USD 2.55 billion in the year 2021. The market is projected to grow at a CAGR of 15.4%, earning revenues of around USD 6.87 billion by the end of 2028.” [1] It is no doubt that the Global 3D Printing Medical Devices Market is booming. Application innovations drives the medical industry to respond quickly to changes. The industry keeps seeking for a less expensive and specific solution to customize medical devices. All these factors make 3D Printing a perfect feasible solution. With 3D Printing, it is cost-effective and flexible to manufacture medical instruments.

How to Manufacture

We produced Dental Handpiece Lubrication Machine through SLA 3D Printing and sheet metal fabrication. Plastic and metal parts are made separately and need to be assembled. Since the final prototype requires for product verification and molding, high accuracy, good surface finish and material properties determine the success of the prototype. Sheet metal fabrication is the conventional method of making precise and smooth metal parts, whereas 3D Printing final parts with smooth surface finish is not considered an easy task due to the nature of additive manufacturing. Therefore, SLA is selected as liquid resin properties meet the needs. Besides, 3D Printing the product with SLA has multiple benefits, including highly detailed, inexpensive, and fast lead time.

What to Offer

Based on the CAD files of the product, we found out that there are too much small connections on the plastic parts which may cause warping and collapsing. Moreover, although they can be printed successfully, there is no guarantee that those parts are intact because of shipping. Therefore, we shared recommend our customer to use as less as connections they can. And the parts were printed and shipped without damages expectedly. All the parts were delivered on time, and our customer is quite satisfied with the outcome. So, they also chose our injection molding services for batch production.
